Alternatives to NYC hotels
A Hyatt Regency and Hyatt House Jersey City, NJ Feature
It might or might not be your first time in New York City, but I'm sure you all know about how crowded and loud "The City That Never Sleeps" can be. If you are planning to visit New York City but would rather have a nice and quiet place to go to after a busy day of shopping, sight seeing and activities, consider staying at either Hyatt Regency or Hyatt House in Jersey City, NJ. Only 1 stop away from World Trade Center by PATH train or ferry. The closest airport is Newark International Airport, about 25 min drive but also accessible by PATH train, a very convenient way to travel without adding a rental car and parking spaces fees to your vacation.

Staying at the Hyatt Regency (a 4 star hotel) comes with perks hard to find if you stay in Manhattan. More space for your buck, a pool, a fitness room, but most of all a beautiful skyline view of Manhattan. It's a waterfront hotel with a nice promenade, right next to the Path Station at Exchange Place and the Ferry Terminal. For a surcharge, there is a to go breakfast option. Coffee Shops and restaurants near by. Very close by is the Light Rail station that can take you to Liberty State Park. From there you can take the Statue of Liberty tour boat.

While the hotel does not have a children's activity center, it is children friendly. If traveling with infants, you can request a crib be brought to your room free of charge. Right on the side of the hotel there is a playground being built, I was told it will be finished in a couple of weeks. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, and they can also help you with tours and tickets assistance. Only service pets are allowed. Rooms starting at $289 per night.
Another great option in the area is the Hyatt House, a 3 star hotel. Within a few steps away from PATH train or the ferry to NYC, the Hyatt House has standard rooms and suites with kitchen, great for families. Accessible rooms, elevator, free wi-fi and fitness room are some of the amenities here. While it does not have a pool, it does have a rooftop bar with a beautiful view of Manhattan. You can even spot the Statue of Liberty from one side. This is a pet friendly hotel. The hotel includes free breakfast. Rooms start at $199 per night.

The train station back in NYC is World Trade Center (train) and from there you could take other subway trains to Times Square, Queens or Brooklyn. It is a 5-7 minutes ride. A train ride costs $2.75 per person, and it runs every 10 minutes.
If you choose the scenic route back by ferry, the terminal in NYC (1st option) is to Brookfield Place, which is across the street from World Trade Center. It costs $7 per adult, children (6-11) $4.50. You have the options of taking a ferry to Midtown West 39th Street or Pier 11/Wall Street (different fee applies, see picture below).
